A BIT ABOUT ME

Learn more about the innovative artist behind the visionary productions.

Hello!

My name is Stacia Ahlers, and I am an aspiring director with creative ambitions that inspire me to dream all day—to never stop dreaming; to dream for a living. As a multidisciplinary individual, I am most proud of my accomplishments as a film and theatre artist. Recently graduated from Flagler College, I simultaneously obtained bachelor’s degrees in Digital Media Production and Theatre Arts during the last four years in Saint Augustine, Florida. Through this, I was fortunate to gain experience in various technical roles for both fields, achieving a comprehensive understanding of the creative and technical challenges of each profession.

In my time as a media student, I wrote and directed an award-winning short film, What I Learned on Lovett Street, independently adapted Arthur Miller’s play Clara into a feature film, and served as assistant director, cinematographer, and editor for the theatre film Edges in my final semester. Always striving beyond, I was also involved with professional opportunities, including a season of the Saint Augustine Tonight Show, and commercial work as a paid intern for That Moment Productions. In my dedication to both artforms, during the same time I also served set construction for all productions, set designer for the staged version of Clara, stage manager for The Old Man and the Old Moon, props master for The Women, and director of several productions. The experience I gained from my time working in both fields has allowed me to explore the art forms that I believe most closely align with my ideologies as an individual, prioritizing compassion with the sharing of individual, human experiences.

As a storyteller, and creative artist, my desire to capture and attempt to understand the juxtaposition of mesmerizing beauty and dark reality of the world cannot be satiated, because it is a condition that is evolving and everlasting. The stories we as creative individuals get to tell give significance to the otherwise dismal world of reality; they give artists the chance to express what need to be understood and give audiences a chance to understand. As a storyteller I recognize people are, as individuals, restricted to an experience of only one—the one place they are living, the one moment they are currently in, the one career they pursue… and while in that one lifetime we are able to experience small, incredible, unique moments, without the stories of others we are trapped in a one-dimensional existence. My goal is to capture and share stories that personify these individual moments, in hope that every story I tell reaches a person made up of a different perspective and—if I have carefully crafted each moment—leaves them understanding the human condition a little more than before.
